My name is Erica Willis. My daughter’s name is Danni. This is my story.

Desperation brought me to Powerhouse. My life was full of addiction, violent relationships, abuse, and even near-death experiences. Everything seemed hopeless. Powerhouse quickly became what I thought was my only hope.

I found what I was looking for. I’m a resident of the Transformation Center for women and children and am graduating this spring. It’s here that I’ve found the family, support, encouragement, and faith needed to rebuild my life.

Being in this program has taught me how to understand better who I am and how to stop the endless cycle of destructive behaviors. In less than two years, I’ve gone from feeling without hope to free from addiction, abuse, anger issues, and the chaos that was constantly going on in my mind. I’m re-establishing relationships with my family, learning how to love others, and love who God has made me to be.

My daughter, Danni, and I are closer than ever. She sees my walk with Christ, and, as a result, her love for him has grown. I better understand God’s love for me as I learn more about how to love my daughter in ways that help her flourish. We both have some hurts because of my past, but I’m committed to giving her a better future.

Since coming to Powerhouse, I’ve started schooling to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. I came here desperate and will graduate with renewed purpose, healing, and freedom.
