You don't have to heal alone.
At Powerhouse, we believe lasting transformation is only possible when people are surrounded by compassionate care, trusted relationships, and the right support. Every person's story is different, and so are their counseling needs.
Our Counseling Center is part of Powerhouse's coordinated network of care, connecting individuals and families with trauma-informed therapists and specialists. Whether you're taking your first step toward recovery, healing from trauma, rebuilding after difficult life circumstances, or seeking support for your mental and emotional well-being, our team is here to walk alongside you with compassion and hope.
We believe everyone deserves access to care, regardless of their financial situation. That's why we offer affordable counseling on a sliding-scale fee system, and scholarships are available for those who qualify.
While our counselors approach their work from a Christian perspective, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds and beliefs. We meet each person where they are, integrating faith into the counseling process only as it aligns with each client's goals and preferences.
Wherever you are in your journey, you don't have to walk it alone. We're honored to come alongside you as you take the next step toward healing, hope, and a healthier future.

F.A.Q. and How To's
Still have a question?
What types of therapy does the Powerhouse Ministries Counseling Center offer?
We provide support for individuals, couples, children, and families. Our therapists are experienced in supporting trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, shame and guilt, conflict resolution, and personal growth. We also have group therapy support available.
Services can be provided either in person or via telehealth video sessions.
What type of therapist will I be seeing?
Our therapists are trainees and associate therapists, meaning they are actively working under the supervision of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
An MFT Trainee is a student currently enrolled in a master's degree program for Marriage and Family Therapy. They are permitted to provide counseling services under specific rules set by state licensing boards. They are not yet licensed, which is why their supervisor's oversight is required
An MFT Associate is registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS https://www.bbs.ca.gov/) and has completed their master's degree and passed rigorous law and ethics exams, but is required to gain thousands of hours of supervised client contact before practicing independently.
MFT Trainees and Associates discuss their cases with their supervisors to improve treatment. While your information remains confidential within the clinical team, laws allow supervisors full access to your clinical records so they can safely oversee your care.
How long are sessions? How often am I seen?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. The frequency of sessions is determined by you and your therapist. With that said, it is recommended that sessions are attended weekly when first starting so you and your therapist can build rapport and target your goals efficiently.
How long will it be until I’m seen?
The Counseling Director will reach out to you within 2-3 business days. They will provide a 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your therapy needs and match you with a therapist. The matched therapist will reach out to you to schedule your first session within an additional 2-3 business days.
What do your counseling services cost?
Powerhouse Ministries Counseling Center offers affordable counseling services utilizing a sliding-scale fee system. Click here to learn more.
Can I use insurance?
Powerhouse Ministries Counseling Center does not take insurance. However, you can use an FSA/HSA card for payment or submit a superbill to your insurance. We cannot guarantee that services rendered will be reimbursed.
Are the therapists Christian, and/or do you have to be a Christian to come to the Powerhouse Ministries Counseling Center?
While our counselors approach their work from a Christian perspective, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds and beliefs. We meet each person where they are, integrating faith into the counseling process only as it aligns with each client's goals and preferences.
Can I choose my therapist?
If you know the therapist you would like to see, you can request them by name when you are contacted by the director. If for some reason the therapist is unavailable, the director will let you know and work with you to find a therapist who will be a good fit for you. Availability and preference may play a role in how we assign you to a therapist.
What therapeutic modalities do the therapists utilize?
Our therapists utilize multiple evidence-based modalities, including but not limited to: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
