Children’s Ministry
Our Children’s Ministry is for children grades K through 5th.  The ministry includes our PHKids which meets Sunday evenings at 705 Wales Street from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.  We provide dinner, play games, do a craft and have a worship/teaching time.  Our volunteer needs for our Children’s Ministry are diverse.

Craft Enthusiasts: to assist the Children’s Ministry Leader in providing a craft activity for the Sunday evening sessions.

Entertainment Specialists: to provide a fun activity (balloons, magic, etc.) for the children.

Drop-In Center
Our Drop-In Center is open from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM daily.  We offer a variety of assistance including rental and utility assistance for Folsom and Orangevale residents.    We can arrange assistance for medical and dental needs as well.  We also offer Genesis Counseling.

•  We always need drivers who are willing to take our clients to appointments.
•  Prayer is a huge need for our clients in despair.

Information Technology (IT)
•  IT/Networking expertise to help with hardware/software planning and networking for our Market Street and Wales facilities.
•  Computer expertise to assist with computer hardware/software maintenance needs.
•  Assist with staff software training.

Learning Center
We need tutors for each child, in a variety of subjects.  Because of the nature of this particular service opportunity, we ask volunteers to commit to the program for the duration of the school year. As our kids sign up for tutoring, they will be matched with a volunteer tutor according to their need.

We would also like to offer “drop in” tutoring at least once a month where our students can come to get help in an isolated area.  If you cannot commit to a regular weekly involvement, please consider being available on a once/twice a month basis.

Maintenance
This is a great opportunity for an individual, family or a small group.  All of these are available as a special project or on as-needed basis.

Electrical: Troubleshoot and repair any electrical issues; Provide any needed wiring or small electrical installations

Odd Jobs: Install and/or clean rain gutters; Caulk windows; Painting (inside or outside); Other ‘handyman’ issues as needed

Yard Maintenance: Leaf sweeping and blowing; Pulling weeds; Maintain sprinkler system

Plumbing: Troubleshoot and repair any plumbing problems

Men’s Ministry
We have a great need for male volunteers willing to mentor and minister through our Men’s Ministry.  Seasoned Christians who would be willing to share in facilitating this group would meet at our Market Street Facility every Wednesday from 5:30  PM to 7:30 PM.

Reception/Front Office
If you enjoy meeting new people, our Reception/Front Office just might be the place for you! Some of the general reception office duties available include:
•  Greeting guests and answering phones
•  Directing walk-ins and phone calls to the appropriate staff
•  Small general office tasks as needed
•  Bulk mailings as needed (printing, folding, labeling, sorting)

Transition Center
Drivers: we need drivers with a Class B license to drive our 15 passenger van for PTC Field Trips and also to transport our residents to various enrichment activities.

Tutors/Teachers: to teach enrichment/life skills classes and to teach adult reading

Women’s Ministry
Our Women’s Ministry reaches out to the low-income and homeless women’s population in the Folsom area.  We have a significant need for female volunteers who have a heart for hurting women.   As part of our women’s outreach every Wednesday morning at 10:00 am, we offer Women’s Group at our 311 Market Street location.  The group is open to our residents and our low-income community.
•  Seasoned Christian women volunteers who are willing to share teaching at our Women’s Bible Study at least once a month.
•  Women volunteers who are willing to commit to building deep and caring relationships with our residents and clients through consistent weekly interactions (Mentor).
•  Volunteers interested in leading worship for Women’s Group on Wednesday evenings.
•  Volunteers willing to share childcare responsibilities with our current volunteer.
•  Volunteers interested in sharing their hobbies/crafts/talents or a special event or outing with our Women’s Group once a month.
•  Volunteers interested in providing breakfast foods for our Women’s Group meetings on Wednesday mornings.

“Ignite!” Youth Ministry
Our Youth Ministry is for youth 11 to 18 years of age.  The ministry includes a Youth Group that meets Thursday evenings at our Market Street facility from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the winter and from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the summer.  We provide dinner, play a game, participate in worship/teaching session, and often break into small groups for more discussion. Our volunteer needs for our Youth Ministry are very diverse.

Behind The Scenes: If you do not have the time each week to personally meet with one of our youth, are you interested in working behind the scenes coordinating our monthly off-campus events or arranging for a guest speaker for Youth Group? Would you like to send out birthday cards or “missed you” cards to those youth who did not make the weekly group session?

Driver(s): We volunteers with a class “B” license to drive our 15 passenger Powerhouse van once a month for off-campus events such as miniature golf, movie, etc. and also to special outings such as marine world, summer and winter retreats.

Meals: We need volunteers to provide meals on a rotating basis.

Mentors: We need mentors who would be willing to be in relationship with one, two or three kids. This would mean attending Youth Group each week to cement these relationships, and then once a week or once a month meet individually or as a group for coffee.  To really build these relationships, we would like the mentors to have responsibility for no more than three youth and, since we have between 20 and 40 youth in our program, we have a great need for mentors.

Small Group Leaders: We need small group leaders who would lead a group of 3-5 youth in a discussion subject provided by the Youth Pastor from that week’s teaching.

Special Events: Would you like to plan a special outing for our youth?  Would you like to be involved in planning a summer 3- day camping trip or a winter retreat?  We could use volunteers to help plan special events for our youth.

Street Ministry: We would like to form a team that would go out into our local neighborhoods once a week, passing out a candy bar or a flyer and talking with the kids about what is going on at the Powerhouse Youth Group.  We would take this time to invite them to join us that for weekly Youth Group or upcoming special events.  We need several volunteers to join our Youth Pastor in getting the word out to our local teens that there is an opportunity for them to get to know God and have fun with others in our youth program.

Worship: Perhaps, God has called you to expand your worship.  You may like to once or twice a month lead this worship/teaching session.

Youth Music Ministry
The Powerhouse Youth Music Ministry is growing.  Many of our youth are interested in playing guitar, bass, drums, piano, etc.  This ministry meets on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM at our Market Street facility. If you are a musician who likes to teach, we would arrange a time at our Market Street location that you would regularly meet with your music student.  We currently have between 10 and 12 youth interested in learning a musical instrument.
